What is APAGS?
APAGS (American Psychological Association of Graduate Students) is the largest group of psychology graduate students in the world. Its mission is to be the voice of all psychology students within the APA (American Psychological Association) and to develop, endorse, and disseminate information and resources important to students. I joined and serve APAGS because psychology gave me a purpose in life and I want to work hard to ensure that other students are given the same opportunity in psychology that I was given.
2010 APAGS Committee
APAGS 2011 - 2012 Chair
As the 2011 - 2012 APAGS Chair, I will unify APAGS behind the goals of cultivating a collaborative scientific psychology and developing a plan to address the internship crisis. To accomplish this, I will take several specific actions.
First, I will unite with the newly formed APAGS Science Subcommittee and the APA Science Directorate to enhance representation of science-focused students.
Second, I will partner with the Member at Large, Practice Focus to create a working group within APAGS leadership focused on the internship crisis. This working group will be charged with developing a comprehensive APAGS policy on the internship crisis.
Third, I will launch an initiative with the Society for the Teaching of Psychology to increase training opportunities in empirically supported teaching methods.
